Over 40 Years of Making Things That Actually Matter
Paper Mill Studio has been around since the early 80s — which means we've been obsessing over paper, details, and getting things just right for longer than most of our couples have been alive. And honestly, the way it all started is one of our favorite parts of the story.
It began with Nancy Hamlin and a stack of stationery books. Nancy built the business from the ground up by bringing those books directly into men's clothing stores — meeting customers where they were, long before that was a marketing strategy anyone talked about. It was scrappy, it was smart, and it worked. When Nancy was ready to pass the torch, Anne Morgan took over and opened the brick and mortar studio that became the heart of what Paper Mill is today — a real place with good light, great paper, and a worktable that has seen a lot of beautiful things come to life.
Anne ran the studio for decades with one very simple rule: almost-right is not good enough. When Erin Leslie asked Anne's daughter in 2016 whether mom was ready to retire, the answer was instant — "Yes! But she's just waiting for the right person to buy it and love it!" Erin turned out to be exactly that person. The standard didn't change hands. It transferred.
